Stone Problems

Scratched marble usually looks worse than it is.

Most scratches and scuffs can be honed and polished out, depending on their depth and the stone. A photo tells us how deep the damage likely runs.

What you’re seeing

Fine lines and scuffs that catch the light.

A web of fine scratches or scuff marks, most visible in raking light or across a reflective floor.

Sometimes a deeper single scratch from dragged furniture, a dropped object or grit underfoot.

The surface may still feel smooth even where it looks scratched — a good sign for refinishing.

What it usually is

Abrasion — and depth is what matters.

Grit tracked in from outside is the usual culprit: underfoot it acts like sandpaper across a soft stone like marble.

Furniture dragged without pads, and everyday use on counters, add the occasional deeper scratch.

How we treat it depends entirely on depth — which is why we ask for a clear, well-lit photo.

What can be done

Honing, polishing and repair matched to the depth.

Fine surface scratches usually hone and polish out entirely, restoring an even finish across the whole surface.

Deeper scratches take more refinishing; genuine chips or cracks are addressed as repairs. If you prefer a softer look afterward, ask about a honed finish. We restore existing stone; we do not install replacement floors.
