The visitor rarely knows they need “honing,” “crystallization” or “resin repair.” You know what the stone looks like. Start there — each of these is a common, often-restorable problem.
Dull or cloudy
Marble that has lost its shine, or stays hazy after cleaning, is usually surface wear, residue or lost polish — not damage you have to live with. It is one of the most restorable problems there is.
Etched
Dull marks, rings or water spots on marble and other acid-sensitive stone are often chemical etching from everyday acids — coffee, citrus, cleaners — not a stain. Etching is refinishable.
Stained
Discoloration that has penetrated into the stone is different from etching, and needs the right treatment for the material. Send a photo and we’ll tell you what we think it is.
Scratched
Scratches can often be honed and polished out, depending on their depth and the stone. Many surfaces look far worse than they actually are once they’re refinished.
Chipped or cracked
Chips and cracks can frequently be repaired rather than replaced, depending on the damage and the material. A photo tells us whether repair is realistic.
Travertine holes
Travertine develops open pits and holes as old filler fails. Those holes can usually be filled and the surface refinished — travertine rarely needs replacing for this alone.
Dark or discolored
Stone that looks darker — especially in bathrooms and showers — can have several causes and should be diagnosed before treatment. Polishing does not solve a moisture problem, and we’ll tell you plainly if that’s what we suspect.
Worn traffic lanes
Entrances, lobbies and corridors lose their finish where feet fall most. Daily cleaning cannot bring that back — restoration can, and it can be scheduled around how the space is used.

Replacing natural stone is expensive and often unnecessary. The right step depends on the stone and the problem:
Restore, don’t replace
Cleaning removes what sits on the surface. Honing evens and smooths it. Polishing and crystallization bring back the shine. Repair addresses chips and cracks. Sealing helps protect the result. We recommend only what your stone actually needs.
An honest assessment
If a surface is genuinely beyond restoring, we’ll tell you plainly. New Galaxy Floor restores, repairs, polishes and maintains the stone you already own — we do not install replacement floors, so our recommendation is about your stone, not a sale.
